On June 13, 2025, the Head of the State Language and Foreign Languages Department of the State Examinations Center, Konul Hajiyeva, paid a working visit to the Cambridge University Press & Assessment Center in the United Kingdom.
The main purpose of the visit was to train experts involved in the preparation of assignments, improve the criteria for assessing written work, apply assessment models in accordance with international standards, and strengthen cooperation between the two centers in order to improve the quality of the examinations conducted by the State Examination Center in foreign languages at various levels of education.
The meetings organized within the framework of the visit were attended by the management of the Cambridge University Publishing and Assessment Center, as well as specialists responsible for educational reforms, multi-level tests, assessment of writing skills, and online adaptive examination technologies.
The meetings discussed international experience in the field of language skills assessment, the involvement of assessment specialists and markers in professional training, the possibilities of applying situational judgment-type test tasks, the development of online adaptive exams, etc. Issues were discussed.
During the discussions, the experience and innovative approaches of the SEC in the field of assessing foreign language skills were met with great interest and wide opportunities for cooperation were opened. The meetings also exchanged views on strengthening the security of exams, the application of digital technologies and advanced practices in the field of assessing real-life skills.
The parties agreed to expand cooperation in the future in the direction of organizing joint training programs, exchanging experts and developing new assessment methods.
